More Convict conditioning

My arm seems to have healed up nicely but I'm still gonna rest it a little longer and only do light KB work. Today I did my Convict Conditioning. I moved up the rep range to the next progression but only kept it at one set. Going slowly. Some of them actually made me exert myself a little. Oh well.

Pain yo

Didn't work out Christmas or the weekend. Tried doing it today and my arm burned pretty bad. Top that off with my head being on fire and an inability to stay off the toilet for longer ten minutes, I decided to take it extremely easy. So I took a light KB and did some cleans. Seems to have helped. We'll see.

Convict workout

Tried convict conditioning for the first time today. I just did the beginner standard for all six movements. Really, really easy but I guess that's kinda the point. My left arm hurts from the KB workout on monday. I guess the supporting muscles weren't strong enough. Oh well.

Trying to blog again

So I haven't been posting my workouts. My bad. Life's just been a tad bit hectic. I have been still working out pretty hard though and have been seeing the fruits of my labor. My core is more prounouced and I've made some pretty big strides in my shoulder strength. So much more work to do.
On Wednesday, I'm going to incorporate Dragon Door's Convict Conditioning into my workouts. It should be interesting to see how it works out (No pun intended). I'm going to start slow and work my way up like the book suggests. I know I could crank out alot more and skip ahead, but I don't want to. Oh well, here's today's workout:
3 rounds (2 minutes rest between round) of
5 24kg Clean and presses (R/L)
5 Pull-ups
5 Double 24 kg front squats

Finished with 3 rounds of 20 32kg swings with 1 minute rest in between round

I'm an extremely weak beyotch

Today I did my pull-ups, then two sets of turkish get-ups and one set of snatches (10 on each side). I wasn't smoked but I wasn't breathing lightly either. I could only muster two get-ups per side with the 20kg. I'm pretty much a Sally.

I'd like to use the excuse that I've only slept for two hours but that's a pretty weak excuse.

Monday death by kettlebell

First I started with pullups courteousy of 20pullups.com
Then I did some light shoulder work (halos and presses) with both the 16 and the 24kgs to make sure my shoulders were ready. I then started my cycle with the 24kg.
5 snatches each side
I then transitioned to 30 secs of work, 15 secs of rest for the following:
dual front squats
military presses (both sides)
windmills (both sides)
rows (both sides)
kb round the worlds (both sides and I know this isn't the proper name but I can't remember)

I did this routine for two sets and ended with 24kg halos.
I'm still having trouble with 24kg overhead presses. I work them and work them but they refuse to go up. I don't get it. Otherwise the workout was pretty good. Worked up a good sweat and was breathing pretty hard. I think next time I'll add some more exercises to it.

Holy shit I'm fat!

So I got back from 8 days straight of vacation in the Bahamas/Florida. All I did was drink copious amounts of alcohol and eat lots of fattening food and no working out. Now I'm a manatee. I could literally see the weight piling on as I stuffed myself every day to the point of sickness (Look for my upcoming book The Complete Idiot's Guide to Gluttony). The definition in my abs disappearing and my face getting rounder with another chin. So I decided to weigh/measure myself this morning:
200.4lbs
19.6% body fat (measured via my handheld bf measuring thingee so there's some measuring error there)
waist 37 inches.....

37 inches?!!! 200lbs!!! I haven't been that big in a long time! I feel like poo. I would go train today but think I'd prolly just die on the mat. Granted, I also haven't taken a true vacation in almost two years so I truly indulged. Oh well, now I start the arduous and painful road back.

Saturday Workout

Yesterday (Saturday) did caveman training with Graham. My heart wasn't in it but I still slogged through. It was a fun little circuit that left my core and legs pretty sore. The gym loves my power sled and water ball and I'm hoping I can get a discount on training for letting them use it. I haven't paid yet but let's face it, I'm cheap and don't wanna spend alot of cash (even though I would).
I then took several punches in the face (Not too hard) while Graham demonstrated some new techniques. I also learned a front carotid choke that I'm pretty impressed with. Tomorrow (Monday) I'll do Art of Strength: Providence. I really enjoy that workout.

First Post and a Realization

After reading Ross' blog today (http://rosstraining.com/blog/2009/10/08/fostering-an-active-lifestyle/) I realized I am exactly what he was talking about. I plop Evan down in front of the television and go about my business. That's shitty. I spend so much time on my own fitness yet neglect my own son's (Yeah, he's gonna end up on a shrink's couch someday but at least he won't need a double wide couch). So in response, I enrolled him in Little Gym (http://www.thelittlegym.com/Pages/default.aspx) and am going to make sure we spend more time doing active/physical stuff. I just need to come up with ideas. Any suggestions?

On a side note, and in an effort to completely contradict what I just wrote cause I'm a hippocrite and maybe a bit retarded, I'm taking my monster to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs today. I'll get him some popcorn....cover it in butter..... hell, maybe even deep fry it......
